The effects of resveratrol (extracted from Polygonum cuspidatum) are primarily manifested in its antioxidant properties. It is widely used in health foods and cosmetics due to its significant efficacy in adjunct therapy for cardiovascular diseases and anti-aging effects. Resveratrol can reduce blood lipid levels and the incidence of coronary heart disease, regulate the ratio of low-density lipoprotein (LDL) to high-density lipoprotein (HDL), decrease platelet aggregation, and inhibit thromboxane B2 production.
