What is Ethoxyquin?
Ethoxyquin is a quinoline derivative originally used to prevent surface spots on pears during post-harvest storage (marketed as "Stop-Scald"). Due to its excellent antioxidant properties, Ethoxyquin is widely used in animal feed to prevent the oxidation of fats and fat-soluble vitamins (such as vitamins A, D, and E). It is also used in certain spices to prevent the oxidation and fading of natural carotenoid pigments.
